Overview

Thick and semi-thick products call for a different dosing arrangement from free-flowing liquids. Seamerco lists piston and rotary equipment for viscous foods, plus liquid dosing systems for sauces, syrups, brine and oil.

Canned foods with solid pieces may use a solid filler followed by a separate liquid-dosing stage. Tuna uses dedicated portioning equipment matched to its texture. A machine selected for tuna should not automatically be assumed suitable for other meats.

Record product temperature, particle dimensions, viscosity, intended fill quantity and the container opening. The engineering review should also consider how the filler connects to product preparation and the closing machine.
